CARE FOR YOUR DOGS IN AN EMERGENCY

Although it's not something we like to think about, I am certain that we would all want our beloved dogs to be cared for properly in the event of our death. Many of us think about who we would want to care for our dogs but never get around to putting this in writing.

For the dog's welfare, I urge every one of you to carefully consider your dog's needs. If you have someone willing to take your dogs then please DONT DELAY! Put your wishes in writing and inform your relatives. If you don't have anyone in a position to take and care for your dogs and would like The Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain Rescue to do this for you then please contact the rescue coordinator to discuss this and we will send you a pack telling you what you need to do and provide you with emergency cards for your home and wallet.

So often when an owner dies or is taken ill the dogs are taken into kennels and we as a breed rescue are not able to assist these dogs unless you have requested this. Not all families care about animals in the same way as us, therefore it is vital that you inform them of your wishes.

I will be more than happy to discuss any concerns with you and assure you that any dogs in our care will be cared for by our dedicated volunteers until a suitable loving home is found. If you have made provisions for your dogs I am more than happy to hold a copy of your wishes on file.

I'm helping The Chinese Crested Club Of Great Britain Rescue to raise money whenever I shop online - could you do the same?

It's very simple - just visit http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/cccogb/ to register and shop with over 2000 well known retailers like Amazon, Argos, M&S, eBay and many more. Whenever I buy something, the retailer makes a donation to The Chinese Crested Club Of Great Britain Rescue. They've helped other causes raise over £2,000,000 so it really does work.

I'd be really grateful if you could use easyfundraising too. It won't cost you a penny extra to shop through easyfundraising and you can even save money with special offers and voucher codes.

Plus, if you register before 1st February you'll automatically receive one entry into the January competition to win £250 to spend with Matalan and £250 donation for your cause!

So please make a difference to The Chinese Crested Club Of Great Britain Rescue and take a look at easyfundraising today - http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/cccogb/

In September 2006, it was agreed that The Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain should have its own Rescue. A sub committee has been set up to define aims and objectives. The Rescue fund will be kept separate from the Clubs funds but will run alongside the Club.

Co-ordinators role
We have appointed a Rescue Co-ordinator who is responsible for all enquiries. The co-ordinator can be contacted on the Rescues mobile number or via the Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain web site.

Initial enquiries will be dealt with on an individual basis. It will be explained to all enquirers how we operate. We ask a local member or helper to assess the dog before it is accepted on the Rescue register. This is to enable the co-ordinator to place the dog in the right home.

We have a small number of foster homes, so if possible, to cause less stress to the dog we will ask that they remain in their current home while they wait for the right home to come along. If this is not possible then the dog will be placed in a temporary foster home.

A member of our dedicated volunteers will check out all homes offered. This is to ensure that we can match the dog and the home correctly.

We ask for a sensible donation from the new home towards costs and request that their new dog is neutered as soon as possible (if it hasn’t already been done).

There is no contact between the old home and new owners except by using the co-ordinator as an intermediary. A good reason for this is that we have had instances of the old owners wanting their dog back after it is happily settled in its new home.

If the dog will not settle with in it’s new home, we will find another home.
